Christmas is a special time, especially when you are counting your blessings. That's what Derek Hough and wife Hayley Erbert did, posting a photo of themselves kissing beneath a living room Christmas tree, days after Erbert underwent skull surgery.

Erbert has been going through a series of intense medical treatments since Dec. 6, when she was hospitalized in Washington, D.C. following a performance of the couple's Symphony of Dance concert tour. Diagnosed with an intracranial hematoma (a collection of blood in the skull), Erbert was treated with an emergency craniectomy, a procedure that removes a portion of the skull to relieve pressure on the brain.

The following day, Hough posted that the surgery had been “successfully completed as planned.” So far, it's been Hough updating fans on Erbert's progress, but this Christmas post marks the first time she has recovered enough to write about it herself.
