While in conversation with British Vogue about a Girls Aloud reunion, the singer, 40, also opened up about her 6-year-old son, Bear Grey, whom she shares with Payne, 30.

When asked by the publication about bringing her child into the spotlight now that she and her fellow group members Kimberley Walsh and Nadine Coyle have all become moms within the past decade, Cheryl said, "The problem is that I want Bear to have a normal childhood."

The new parents announced his birth a few days later with a Polaroid shot of Payne cradling his son, which they both posted on Instagram.

Though Payne and Cheryl split in July 2018, the pair have worked together as co-parents to raise their son together.

In the clip, he thanked Bear and Cheryl "for giving me a little bit of freedom to go and get well," adding that "there's no point in trying to be a dad when you've got nothing to teach."
