  Conversation
  1. Buying Salad Dressing
  1. – How many people did you invite?
  - Well, just a small gathering. Besides you and me, there are about six more people. 4 of them are vegetarians.
  - Why don’t you prepare a mini salad bar? I’ll get some chicken wings from the Daley for the non-vegetarians. This way, everyone will have something to eat.
  - Good idea. I’ll just prepare salad bar with Caesar salad, chef salad, garden salad and a sort of veggies indeed. Everyone can help themselves.
  (3:42)
  a. At the Products Display promotion – tasting stand
  - Would you like to try our new salad dressing? The creamy one is Caesar, the red one is light raspberry and walnut.
  - I’m not a big fan of creamy dressing. Let me try the raspberry one. Um… it tastes kind of fruity.
  - That’s one of our light choices. There are about 10 other flavors. I personally recommend is parmesan and roasted garlic dressing.
  - Why don’t we go to the salad dressing section and have a good look?
  - It’s in the 3rd aisle from here, just walk pass the tea-and-coffee section, it’s right next to the Pasta-Sauces.
  - Thanks!

  b. At the Salad Dressing Section
  - Chee…there so many that you choose from. What do you suggest?
  - Just stick to the basic one and you won’t go wrong. I know Jill likes sweet and rich dressings. Thousand Island would be the one for her.
  - For me, it’s a tousle between Balsamic Vinaigrette and Italian; I like my dressing sour and light. Well, I think I’ll try some Balsamic Vinaigrette dressing. What do u like?
  - I’ve got a bottle of French at home. Hey, how about the parmesan and roasted garlic dressing. The woman at the stand recommended it.
  - We’ll take that too. That should be enough. Let’s other stuff and get out of here.
  (5:17)
  C. At the Daley
  - Excuse me, how long have those chicken wings been sitting there?
  - About an hour and a half.
  - I’ll take a dozen. Can I also have some potato salad?
  - Sure, how much do you need?
  - It’s for eight people, so probably need 600 grams or so.
  - Would you like me to heat up the chicken wings for you?
  - No, that’s fine.
  - Do you want extra hot sauce with them?
  - Yes, please. Thank you!

  2. Buying Kitchen Ware and Baking Materials
  A. At the Baking Section
  - What have learnt how to make so far?
  - Lemon cheese bars, biscuits and chocolate chip cookies. Last week we made peach pies, this week, we’re going to do brownies and cherry pies. Ok, I get the coco powder and vanilla extract. But I can’t find the almond extract for the cherry pies.
  - It’s right there, near your nose, next to the groncer(6:26).
  - Great, I’ve got all the ingredients for the class. Now I need to buy more baking accessories.
  - But we’ve bought a lot last time.
  - I know, but those were the basic ones. I’m taking the advanced course now.
  (6:46)
  B. At the Kitchen Ware Section
  - Look at these gadgets. Do you know how to use all of them? We don’t do a lot of baking in Taiwan. These tools are look foreign to me. Take this one for example, what’s it for?
  - It’s a sifter, used for sifting flour or sugar.
  - How about this one, is it a smaller sifter?
  - Now, that’s an egg separator. And the one u holding now, is a pastry blender. Listen, I need a bigger mixing bowl and a pastry brush. Could u help me find them? They should be here somewhere.
  - This is the biggest ball I can find, is it the one for u?
  - Not exactly. …… excuse me, do u have a bigger mixing bowl than this one?
  - Yes, we do. But the larger ones are not in stock at this moment. U might have to wait until next week.
  - Oh… That would be too late. Thanks anyway.
  - Anytime.
  (7:51)
  - Those shits, you just put in ur cart, what do u use them for?
  - These are non-stick baking pans. I don’t have to grease the pans every time. Em… what else do I need? Right, a set of measuring spoons. I think we’re done for the accessories.
  - Wait a second. The one u took has only 3 measuring spoons and the whole set cost 14.99. but this one has in total 4 spoons, and it’s only 9.99.
  - U’re right, I didn’t notice it. I’ll take the cheaper one. They look the same.
  (8:27)
  B. At the Cashier
  - Hi dear, are u a member of the Safeway club?
  - No, what would I get if I’m a member? Do I have to pay to join?
  - It’s free, and u get air miles for every purchase. All u have to do is filling out this form and bring it back next time. The reward details are on the back of the form.
  - Thanks, I’ll think about it. Can I have a double bag for the kitchen ware? They’re quite heavy.
  - Sure, that comes to 87.35.
  - Can I pay by debit card?
  - Sure, no problem. …… Pls choose the account first and enter ur PIN. Here we go. Have a nice day.
  - U too.
