剛到公司的Catherine做的不是很順利 不時(shí)的出些小錯(cuò)誤 偏偏她的頂頭上司又是個(gè)要求嚴(yán)格的人 因此Catherine時(shí)常挨罵  這天她又被上司批評(píng)了 心情很不好 同事看見(jiàn)了 對(duì)她說(shuō) follow the rules and you won't get chewed out ，Catherine心想 難道是指公司里競(jìng)爭(zhēng)很激烈 自己不守規(guī)矩就會(huì)被“吞食掉”嗎  為了確認(rèn)她的想法 她問(wèn)了問(wèn)同事

Jack：Follow the rules and you won't get chewed out
Jack:遵守規(guī)定你就不會(huì)挨罵

Catherine：That sounds really horrible. Does it mean that the comeptition is really fierce here,That if I don't follow the rules I will be "chewed"?
Catherine:聽(tīng)起來(lái)真可怕 這是不是指這里的競(jìng)爭(zhēng)很激烈啊  如果我不守規(guī)矩就會(huì)被吞食掉嗎？

Jack: No .It means you will not be scolded if you follow the rules.
Jack:不 這句話的意思好似如果你遵守規(guī)定就不會(huì)被責(zé)罵

Catherine: Oh i see  .Thank you
Catherine: 我明白了 謝謝啦

follow the rules and you won't get chewed out 遵守規(guī)定你就不會(huì)挨罵

chew是咀嚼的意思   但是chew someone out 卻和這個(gè)單詞本身沒(méi)多大聯(lián)系 是“責(zé)罵某人”的意思
