I recently went on a family outing. The kids were running around, being crazy like kids do, and my wife and I were taking care of them. My mother-in-law also came to have fun and help, and believe it or not, she was the most youthful person in the whole group. She was running around, having fun, and laughing all day. It was great to have such a bright, warm, and loving person around.
Some people worry about getting old. They do everything possible to age slowly. I can understand. I want to be able to move with speed and strength as long as possible. But watching my mother-in-law… my goodness, I hope I have her strength and speed when I’m her age. I hope my mind is as sharp as hers when I’m her age. I hope I am warm and giving like she is when I become a grandpa.
What makes us age? It seems to me that it’s more than physical. I’ve seen people in young bodies that seem VERY ‘old’. They are inactive. They seem to be unhappy about life. What’s the secret to staying young? Some people say that we age once we lose our sense of curiosity. some people say we get old when we stop learning new things. What do you think?
Talk about it:
How can we stay young internally and externally, but naturally?
What can we learn from our elders?
Whos is the oldest person you know?
Are you afraid of getting older?
What scares you?
Would you want to live forever if you could?
What is something positive about getting older?
What is something negativer about getting older?
How long do you hope to live?
