not to speak of意為“不用說(shuō)”，相當(dāng)于not to mention。但是二者并不完全一樣：not to mention后面可以接句子，而not to speak of后面只能接名詞或名詞性短語(yǔ)。如：
We're too busy to take a long holiday this year, not to mention the fact that we can't afford it. 我們今年太忙，不能去度長(zhǎng)假，更何況我們也出不起這筆錢(qián)。
The boy hasn't learned arithmetic, not to speak of algebra. 這孩子算術(shù)還沒(méi)學(xué)會(huì)，更別說(shuō)代數(shù)了。
