Dear Timothy,
I hate to break this to you, but I wouldn’t count on getting your money back anytime soon. He offered you US$2,500 in interest, eh? That’s $500 more than he offered me. He must have been getting desperate. What I hear is that Harry has a gambling problem. He probably wanted some of the money to pay off a debt and the rest to put down on a new bet.
Sorry I couldn’t warn you in time. Well, what’s done is done. There’s always a chance his luck will turn and he really will make a fortune. I hope so, for your sake.
Sincerely,
Richard Wilson
