Natalie Dalziel, 28, from Staffordshire, was struck down by the three illnesses over an eight month period and has described being let go by Marks & Spencer as a "kicking".
She claims she took nine days off work for root canal surgery, which led to the sacking from the high street giant's Wolstanton branch, Birmingham Live reports.
Natalie had worked there since 2016 and was employed as a permanent part-time staff member. She told StokeonTrentLive: “I have a seven-year-old boy who I need to provide for and I’ve been so down with the money situation.
“I was first off sick when I went into work and vomited. The toilets were out of order and I threw up in the sink. My next sick day was when I got a trapped nerve in my leg. I did everything I could to get back to work - and even bought new footwear and leg supports.”
“I couldn’t bear the pain so I worked in the Foodhall where I could sit down a little. I got a formal warning for having time off."
Natalie says she then had 13 dental appointments after root canal surgery left her in excruciating pain. She claims she had a total of nine days off sick with her teeth.
She added: “I was having trouble with my teeth and had to have root canal surgery. But the dentist wasn't able to get the whole tooth out so I had to keep going back while on strong pain killers. I wasn’t able to drive.
“I had 13 appointments altogether and I got a sick note from the doctor.” She added: “I’ ve always worked hard and feel like I’ve been kicked in the teeth."
Now Natalie has lost her appeal in a last-ditch attempt to be reinstated. She claims the outcome has increased her anxiety-levels.
She added: “I suffer badly with anxiety and I’ve barely slept since I was let go. Now I’ve got to find a new job and I’m so nervous about meeting new colleagues.”
“I won’t be able to use M&S for a reference and it’s not my fault that I wasn’t very well. I’ve provided for my family for so long that it feels strange not to get up and go to work. I feel like I've lost my purpose.”
“I was heartbroken to lose my job. I couldn’t drive home I was crying that much. I cried for two hours in the car park before I could drive home.”
M&S carried out an investigation after Natalie lodged her appeal.
In a letter to Natalie, the company stated:"During a meeting you raised you were feeling discriminated against and that you did not believe your dismissal to be fair when your absences were genuine.
"I have investigated the absence review meetings and the outcome letters sent to you and I am satisfied that the M&S absence policy has been followed and no discrimination has taken place. Therefore, I do not uphold this point of your appeal."
An M&S spokesman said: “Protecting the welfare of our colleagues is our utmost priority. We have robust policies in place and any review of employee contracts is done within these procedures.”
