A Florida man worried his smart car would be blown away by Hurricane Dorian came up with a novel solution – he parked it in his kitchen.

Patrick Eldridge proved his sceptical wife wrong when he was able to fit the compact vehicle through double doors in their Jacksonville home and park it by the kitchen bench.

"I said there was no way he could. He said he could," Jessica Eldridge said.

"So he opened the double doors and had it in. I was amazed that it could fit. He had it in with no problems."

With the car in the middle of the kitchen, Jessica Eldridge had to move around it to cook and serve dinner.
