Oh, give me a home where the mattresses roam …
A new video captures the moment Saturday when dozens of air mattresses that were set up for a “Bed Cinema” event in Denver suddenly started moseying through a field, thanks to a strong gust of wind.
Local resident Robb Manes, who captured the video, dubbed it “The Great Mattress Migration of 2019.”
“In Denver, Colorado fashion, a storm blew in, and this is the result,” Manes wrote in his video caption.
Manes was at a pool in the Stapleton neighborhood with two other people near the designated spot for the scheduled movie-watching event — when he saw something that obviously did not belong.
“We were just sitting in the pool and all of a sudden, two mattresses flew [into the pool area],” Manes told the Denver Post. “At first, it was confusing.”
More and more started coming, like a herd of airy cattle on the range, the video shows. One even landed in the pool.
A handful of people fruitlessly tried to grab hold of the wayward mattresses, the video shows.
“There was a woman trying to a catch a mattress,” Manes reportedly said. “She looked at us and said, ‘This is a disaster.’”
He and others helped to corral the mattresses, a task that took about 30 minutes.
“Although we felt really bad for the event people, we thought it was absolutely hilarious,” Manes said.
The sci-fi classic “Back to the Future” was the featured film that night.
