人口老齡化

Aging of Population

The aging of population has been a pervasive social problem in most developed countries, while China, although still being a developing country, is also confronted with such a problem. Since China stepped into an aging society in 1999, the aging of population has accelerated. With a large population base, the population of the elderly is increasing fast. The sixth nationwide population census indicates that the number of old people of and above the age of 60 in China has reached 178 million, accounting for 13.26 percent of the total population and making the task of constructing the social service system for the elderly extremely heavy. Nowadays, the government of our country has begun to loosen its one-child policy to allow more couples to have a second child.
