Steve Weintraub: With Sony’s The Green Hornet arriving in theaters , I got to sit down with the cast and filmmakers yesterday on the Sony lot in Culver City. Since I spoke to so many people, I’m breaking up the interviews and posting a new one every day this week. To start things off, I’ve got Jay Chou (Kato).
While many of you might think Seth Rogen is the star of The Green Hornet, when Sony advertises the film in Asia, they’ll be pushing Chou. That’s because Chou is like the Justin Timberlake of Asia, as he’s sold more than 28 million albums worldwide. In addition, he writes his own music, produces and directs his music videos, and he’s even made a feature film. Again, very famous.
Anyway, when I sat down with Chou, we talked about how he had just performed the night before, was he nervous to take on the role, his rehearsal process, the language barrier, does he enjoy being anonymous in Los Angeles, and a lot more.
· We joke around about the language barrier.
· I ask him about his concert on Jan. 9th, 2011.
· What’s it like being anonymous in Los Angeles? I ask that because in Asia he’s as famous as Justin Timberlake in Asia.
· Was he nervous to take on the role made famous by Bruce Lee.
· He’s a director. So I wanted to know what was it like for him to give up control.
· The rehearsal process. Does he like rehearsing or does he like finding stuff on set?
· How many takes does he like to do?
