Young people are important resources to the country. But it seems that the government ignores some problems faced by young people in running the country.
The major problem, to my mind, lies in education. Despite the increasing number of young people accessible to universities or colleges, there are still lots of young people who have no chance to receive advanced education, especially those in poor families in rural areas. The dropout rate of teenagers reaches 40% in remote rural areas, according to a nation wide survey. Besides, there are no enough open universities where young people can continue their study.
Another problem faced by most young people is employment. It is more and more difficult for young people to get satisfactory jobs nowadays, even if they own degrees. Many enterprises and companies prefer experienced job seekers. They consider it an extra cost to train greenhorns. The statistical data shows that 35% college graduates of 2003 have not been employed till now. And there is a lack of vocational guidance for young people in society.
The last but not the least is that the mental problems of young people have not been paid much attention. They have no proper ways to relieve the pressure and anxiety from study and work, which often leads to depression or other mental diseases.
The government has much to do to solve these problems. Young people in poor families should be sponsored to continue their study and more open universities should be established. The government should also provide some social training to help young people gain experience. At the same time, more psychology tutorship or consultation for young people is necessary. Only when the problems are solved will a country develop. (319 words)
