In the process of one's growth，family's education plays a critical role，while friends' impact can't be ignored．From my perspective，the latter is of more importance．

First and foremost，as the old saying goes，“Birds of a feather flock together．” Similarly，people of a kind fall into the same group．Friends are people who share common interests．If they are keen on reading books，they tend to have the same feeling and thus broadening their horizons together．On the contrary，if one forms bad habits like smoking，or being addicted to alcohol，his friend is unlikely to avoid getting into the same habit．In the second place，friends can affect one in shaping characteristics．Each time one faces difficulties and becomes upset，if his friend encourages him to be brave and lends him a helping hand，he will gain self-confidence and be moved by friendship，leading to his will to help others．The old often say that you can judge a persons' quality by investing his friends．It's true in that one's personality can be influenced by his friends' words and behavior．Last but not least，friends can have an effect on shaping one's values and attitude towards life．If a person always complains about everyday things and speaks ill of others，his friend tends to have a pessimistic view towards life and find fault with everything．By contrast，if a person is positive and be optimistic every day，his friend is certain to be easy to please．

To put in a nut shell，in my opinion，friends play a critical role in one's growth and undoubtedly shape a person in all aspects．
