     As is shown in the drawing, on a balance or pair of scales, the gold of "Benefit" carries more weight than the heart of "Honesty". In the middle of the balance, a man is sliding toward the gold of "Benefit". However, honesty is the most important characteristic that a person requires to be successful in life. Only by consistently proving to be honest can a person earn the precious trust of family members, friends and business partners.
     Although it would be good to have both, it seems that wealth has more of a magnetic drawing power than honesty and integrity. If you could only have one it appears that it would be harder to retain one's integrity than to increase one's bank balance. And if your wealth increases it seems that honesty decreases. This seems to be a current phenomenon where people are more concerned with their self interests at the expense of their integrity, just like the man in the drawing.
     In the long run, an honest person may not be wealthy, but he or she will have earned the love and respect of the people closest to them, which, in my opinion, is a measure of a successful life.
