［注解］出自拉丁語(yǔ)。沒(méi)有吃過(guò)苦，哪知甜滋味。
［譯］吃過(guò)苦頭，才配享受。
He is unworthy to live who lives only for himself.
［譯］為己而生，生而可恥。
He laughs best who laughs last.
［注解］此諺語(yǔ)對(duì)事情尚未成功就過(guò)早高興的人是告誡；對(duì)遭受挫折就感到沮喪無(wú)望的人是鼓勵(lì)。同義諺語(yǔ)還有：“Better the last smile, than first laughter.”開(kāi)頭大笑不如最后的微笑。
