布魯克

Rupert Brooke

布魯克（Rupert Brooke，1887-1915），英國二十世紀初期詩人，也是喬治詩人。他畢業(yè)于劍橋大學國王學院。第一次世界大戰(zhàn)期間，他擔任英國海軍軍官，隨軍遠征達達尼爾海峽，途中不幸患敗血癥身死。布魯克于1911年發(fā)表《詩集》，1915年發(fā)表十四行詩集《1914》，被認為是第一次世界大戰(zhàn)之前英國自由文化的代表。他在戰(zhàn)爭中創(chuàng)作的詩歌熱情歌頌英國青年軍人的愛國精神和英雄氣概。他的詩受浪漫派影響，重抒情，富于幻想。后來的詩作則表現出機智，有十七世紀英詩的風韻。

這些心原是由人類的哀樂所織成，

THESE hearts were woven of human joys and cares,

Washed marvellously with sorrow, swift to mirth .

Frost, with a gesture, stays the waves that dance

凝固了流動的美。冰雪在夜空下

And wandering loveliness. He leaves a white

留下了一種潔白的、堅固的光華，

Unbroken glory, a gathered radiance ,

A width, a shining peace, under the night.
