沈周(1427-1509)明代杰出畫家。字啟南，號石田，又號白石翁、玉田生、有居竹居主人等。長洲(今江蘇蘇州)人。性情敦厚、博學(xué)多才，長于文學(xué)，亦工詩畫，善畫山水、花卉、鳥獸、蟲魚，皆極神妙。常草草點(diǎn)綴，即得意趣。亦常題詩詞于畫上，當(dāng)時人稱他為“二絕先生”。畫宗黃大疾、吳鎮(zhèn)，自成一家筆法。亦工墨筆花鳥，和他的學(xué)生文征明并稱為“吳派”兩大家。又與文征明、唐寅、仇英稱“明四家”。他每畫一畫，落筆點(diǎn)苔，絕不茍且。他能從多方面摹習(xí)古人，又加自己的創(chuàng)造，更參以二米的筆趣，善用粗筆，圓潤挺勁，厚重凝煉。出入于宋元名家，創(chuàng)作態(tài)度極為慎重。

Shen Chou
White clouds, like a belt, wind around the waist of the mountains;
A path narrow and long soars into the void, off a stony ledge.
Alone, I lean on a thornwood staff and gaze peacefully into the distance;
Wishing to respond with my flute playing to the singing of the mountain stream.
