Mist and dew, painfully enticing,

For a moment detain me here.

On the road beside the lake, we hold hands among the lotus plants:

A moment of "yellow plum rain."（1）

I act foolishly, not caring if anyone guesses.

Like an ordinary mortal, for a moment I forget my sorrows.

The moment our hands part, I am overwhelmed,

Returning home, I lean wearily against my dressing table.

（1）. "Yellow plum rain" refers to the drizzly season of early fall that coincides with the ripening of yellow plums.

Annoying mist and enticing dew

Retain me for a while with puzzling view.

Hand in hand, we stroll by the Lake of Lotus Flower;

A sudden rain drizzles into a shower.

Fond to be silly, I care not for others, never.

Undoffed, I lie down with my breast against his chest.

What can I do when comes the time to sever?

Indolent when back, by my dresser I won't rest.
