The wind spreads on the isle a fragrant smell;
The sun sets o’er the ferry with a willow tree.
I come near lotus leaves outspread pellmell.
But where is she who gathers lotus seed with glee?
Alone I lean against the tower high,
And I would talk to the lotus flower.
But what can I do now it won’t reply
But turns and sheds red petals in shower?
