Hope Is the Thing with Feathers
——Emily Dickinson
Hope is the thing with feathers 希望長著羽毛
That perches in the soul, 棲在靈魂里,
And sings the tune without the words, 唱著無詞的樂曲,
And never stops at all. 從來不停息。
And sweetest in the gale is heard; 風(fēng)越大聲越甜;
And sore must be the storm尋常的風(fēng)暴
That could abash the little bird 休想嚇倒這雙
That kept so many warm. 溫暖眾生的小鳥。
I’ve heard it in the chillest land, 我曾聽她在最寒帶,
And on the strangest sea; 最陌生的海上;
Yet, never, in extremity, 卻從不因?yàn)榱实?
It asked a crumb of me. 向我乞討絲毫。
