6. A cat seller

A famous art collector is walking through the city when he notices a fat cat lapping1 milk from a saucer2 in the doorway of a store and he does a double take3.

He knows that the saucer is extremely old and very valuable, so he walks casually into the store and offers to buy the cat for two dollars.

The store owner replies, "I'm sorry, but the cat isn't for sale."

The collector says, "Please, I need a hungry cat around the house to catch mice. I'll pay you twenty dollars for that cat." And the owner says "Sold," and hands over the cat.

The collector continues, "Hey, for the twenty bucks I wonder if you could throw in that old saucer. The cat's used to it and it'll save me from having to get a dish."

To which the owner says, "Sorry buddy, but that's my lucky saucer. So far this week I've sold sixty-eight cats."

賣貓的人

一位著名的藝術(shù)收藏家在城市里散步時(shí)發(fā)現(xiàn)一個(gè)商店門口有一只肥貓正在舔食一個(gè)碟子里的牛奶。他仔細(xì)看了一下，知道這只碟子非常古老并且很值錢，于是他很不經(jīng)意地走進(jìn)商店出價(jià)兩美元要買這只貓。

店主回答：“抱歉，這只貓不賣的?！笔詹丶艺f：“求求你了，我家里需要一只餓極了的貓來抓老鼠。我付你20美元買這只貓。”店主說：“成交！”就把貓遞了過去。

收藏家繼續(xù)說：“嘿，既然給了你二十美元，我想你能否附帶贈(zèng)送那只舊碟子。這只貓習(xí)慣了用這只碟子，那也省得我再去找一只碟子?！睂?duì)此，店主回答說：“對(duì)不起，伙計(jì)，但那是我的幸運(yùn)碟。本周我已經(jīng)賣出了68只貓了。”
