雙語笑話：高爾夫挑戰(zhàn)賽

Golf Challenge

A young man who was also an avid golfer found himself with a few hours to spare one afternoon．He figured if he hurried and played very fast，he could get in 9 holes before he had to head home．Just as he was about to tee off，an old gentleman shuffled onto the tee and asked if he could accompany the young man as he was golfing alone．Not being able to say no，he allowed the old gentleman to join him．

To his surprise the old man played fairly quickly．He didn’t hit the ball far，but plodded along consistently and didn’t waste much time．Finally，they reached the 9th fairway and the young man found himself with a tough shot．There was a large pine tree right in front of his ball and it was directly between his ball and the green．After several minutes of debating how to hit the shot，the old man finally said，“You know，when I was your age，I’d hit the ball right over that tree．”

With that challenge placed before him，the youngster swung hard，hit the ball up，right smack into the top of the tree trunk and it thudded back on the ground not a foot from where it had originally lay．The old man offered one more comment，“Of course，when I was your age that pine tree was only 3 feet tall．”

有一個年輕人是狂熱的高爾夫球迷。有天下午，他發(fā)現(xiàn)自己有幾小時(shí)的閑暇時(shí)光。他想如果能抓緊時(shí)間，且球打得快的話，就可以在回家之前打完九個洞。當(dāng)他把球放在球座上，準(zhǔn)備擊打的時(shí)候，一個老先生緩慢地走到球座前，說自己一個人打球太孤單，問能否和年輕人一起打。小伙子覺得無法拒絕，便同意了。

令小伙子感到驚訝的是，老人球打得飛快。他球擊得并不遠(yuǎn)，卻動作連貫，沒有花費(fèi)很多時(shí)間。最后，他們到達(dá)了第九洞的球道。小伙子發(fā)現(xiàn)自己的下一擊將非常困難，因?yàn)榍懊嬗幸豢么笏蓸洌脫踉谇蚝筒萜褐g。他和老人討論究竟該怎樣打這一球。幾分鐘后，老人說：“你知道，我像你這么大的時(shí)候，會讓球正好飛過這棵樹。”

年輕人面對挑戰(zhàn)，猛地?fù)]桿，將球擊向天空，球正好打在樹干的頂端，彈回到地面，和原來擊球的地方相差不到一英尺。老人又發(fā)表了一句評論：“當(dāng)然，我像你這么大的時(shí)候，這棵松樹只有三英尺高。”
