印度尼西亞附近發(fā)生地震后發(fā)布海嘯警報(bào)

A powerful earthquake has struck off the northeast coast of Indonesia's Sulawesi island, prompting authorities to issue a tsunami warning.

印度尼西亞蘇拉威西島東北海岸發(fā)生強(qiáng)烈地震，促使當(dāng)局發(fā)布海嘯警報(bào)。

Indonesia's geophysics agency reported a 7.1 magnitude quake while the United States Geological Survey (USGS) put the magnitude at 6.9.

印度尼西亞地球物理局報(bào)告稱發(fā)生了7.1級(jí)地震，而美國(guó)地質(zhì)調(diào)查局(USGS)則將震級(jí)定為6.9級(jí)。

The USGS said the earthquake was centred 185km southeast of Manado at a depth of 24km.

美國(guó)地質(zhì)調(diào)查局表示，地震震中位于馬納多東南185公里處，震源深度24公里。

A graphic posted on Twitter by Indonesia's geophysics agency predicted waves of half a metre for parts of North Sulawesi and North Maluku.

There were no immediate reports of major damage or casualties.

The quake caused panic in the city of Ternate in the Maluku island chain, where people ran to higher ground, a witness told The Associated Press.

Radio El Shinta reported that residents in Manado, North Sulawesi's provincial capital, ran out of their houses.
