泰國前總理英拉因瀆職被判入獄5年

Yingluck Shinawatra, Thailand’s former prime minister, has been found guilty of negligence by the supreme court and sentenced to five years in prison.

泰國最高法院判決該國前總理英拉•西那瓦(Yingluck Shinawatra)犯下瀆職罪，判處她5年監(jiān)禁。

The verdict against Yingluck, who vanished from public view on August 25 ahead of a court appearance at which it was to have been handed down, is a further setback for the Thai political clan.

Yingluck was accused of negligence relating to a rice subsidy scheme for Thai farmers that resulted in multibillion-dollar losses.

At the time of her disappearance, Prawit Wongsuwan, deputy prime minister, told local media there was a possibility she had fled the country.

Thai media speculated she had fled to neighbouring Cambodia or to Dubai, where Thaksin Shinawatra, her brother and a former prime minister, owns property.

Yingluck served as prime minister from 2011-14. The negligence charge carries a maximum sentence of 10 years.
