Allenbourn Middle School, in Wimborne, has played host to the author, illustrator, designer and animator Curtis Jobling.

While some may not be familiar with his fantasy books for teenagers, they will almost certainly have come across Bob the Builder, for which he did all the designs.

An audience of several hundred children from Years 6 and 7, as well as pupils from St Michael's Middle School, in Wimborne, watched entranced as Bob, Wendy and Spud came to life in front of their eyes.

"I loved drawing, and my favourite book was Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak. I love history too," he said, going on to talk about his new series of fantasy stories, The World of Warriors.
