托福詞匯之“安樂死”

　　近日，因患嗅神經(jīng)母細(xì)胞瘤而面容大改的法國女教師請求法院允許醫(yī)生為其實(shí)施安樂死為合法。在請求被拒之后，她又懇請總統(tǒng)薩科齊干預(yù)并準(zhǔn)允此事。

　　—— 據(jù)司法界人士透露，法國一家法院于本周一駁回了嚴(yán)重毀容的52歲教師提出的獲取死亡權(quán)利的要求，此案曾一度在法國引起廣泛關(guān)注。

　　該報(bào)道中，euthanasia 就是“安樂死”的意思; disfigured是形容詞，having the appearance spoiled(使外貌被損毀)，也就是被損毀的，毀容的意思。disfigure為其動詞形式，意為“損毀、毀容”。

　　例如：This landscape is disfigured by a power station. 風(fēng)景被發(fā)電廠破壞了。

　　與disfigure意思相近的詞有deface(損傷…的外觀)和blemish(污點(diǎn)、缺點(diǎn); 污損、損害)。

　　例如：Don't deface library books.
