Japan has natural hot spring circuits from its volcanic terrain. For a long time, the Japanese not only considered hot spring bath as a traditional feature but also considered this as a way of spiritual relaxation and rehabilitation therapy and medical treatment.

The most special thing about this type of onsen bath is that everyone does not mind being naked in front of strangers and always puts a small towel on their heads. Why is that?

First, you must understand that hot springs in Japan are not water parks or bathrooms. It is a place of relaxation, meditation and the need to follow strict rules for onsen bath etiquette in this country.

Wearing clothes on the body when entering the water is taboo. Everyone must be "naked" despite having a bath with many strangers. The purpose of this is to keep the water as clean as possible.

When coming to the onsen bath, the Japanese will bring 2 towels: 1 large, 1 small. However, bathers are not allowed to bring a large towel into the water but have to leave it on the edge of the tank. The remaining small towel will be wet and placed on the head of the owner with the effect of avoiding heat loss, stabilizing the blood pressure for the body, especially on cold days - when the outdoor temperature and water in the tank have big difference.

In addition, to ensure the element of cleanliness for the hot springs, each person before bathing must be washed with tap water or scrub with soap before entering. Also, tie your hair neatly, hiding your hair in a headscarf to make sure they don't touch the water.

Turns out, the act of wearing a towel on the head when taking a Japanese-style onsen bath has many health benefits. Although it is only a small action, it is extremely necessary for everyone, especially for the elderly when bathing in the cold season.
