I sprang from my bed, wrapped a shawl round me, and rushed into the corridor.

As I opened my door I seemed to hear a low whistle, such as my sister described,

就在我開啟房門時，我仿佛聽到一聲輕輕的就象我姐姐說的那樣的口哨聲，

and a few moments later a clanging sound, as if a mass of metal had fallen.

稍停，又聽到哐啷一聲，仿佛是一塊金屬的東西倒在地上。
