52　現(xiàn)在分詞的意義　Track50

 

（1）主動的、一般的動作
特點：
1）此時若將現(xiàn)在分詞改成定語從句，則定語從句的謂語要用一般時態(tài)。
2）此時現(xiàn)在分詞多數(shù)表示的是所修飾名詞的一種持久性的特點，并不是強調(diào)正在發(fā)生的動作。
a.Unidentified Flying Objects (UFO) = unidentified objects that fly
不明飛行物
b.flying fishes = fishes that can fly 飛魚
c.a promising young man = a young man who promises well
有前途的年輕人
d.the exploiting class = the class that exploits others　剝削階級
e.an understanding man = a man who can understand others' feelings
善解人意的人
f.a puzzling problem = a problem that puzzles people　令人迷惑的問題
g.They live in a room facing the south. = They live in a room that faces the south.　他們住在一間朝南的屋子里。
（2）主動的、正在進行的動作
特點：
1）此時若將現(xiàn)在分詞改成定語從句，則定語從句的謂語要用進行時態(tài)。
2）此時現(xiàn)在分詞多數(shù)表示的是所修飾名詞的一種短暫性的特點，強調(diào)正在發(fā)生的一個動作。
a.falling leaves = leaves that are falling 　正在飄落的葉子
b.The man standing at the gate is my English teacher. = The man who is standing at the gate is my English teacher.
c.I like the girl dancing with that guy. = I like the girl who is dancing with that guy.
d.the setting/rising sun = the sun that is setting/rising
e.the barking dog = the dog that is barking
f.a sleeping child = a child who is sleeping
