第十、我們可以說lay into sb/sth。In English , it means "to attack violently with words ". 中文意思是責(zé)罵，痛斥。下面我們通過下面的例句來熟悉這個(gè)片語的意思。

例句：His parents laid into him for wasting so much money. 他因?yàn)閾]霍這么多錢而被父母狠狠地責(zé)罵了一頓。This novel laid into the capitalist system of darkness. 這部小說痛斥資本主義制度的黑暗。

Lay into sb or sth除了有痛罵，痛斥的意思，還有“to attack violently with blows”，中文意思猛打，痛打。例如：The two boxers laid into each other as soon as the bell rang. 鈴聲一響，兩個(gè)拳擊手就互相猛打起來了。

第十一、我們可以說tick sb off。It is an American slang. In English, it means "to speak angrily to sb, especially a child, because they have done sth wrong". 中文意思是責(zé)備、斥責(zé)、責(zé)罵(特別是指犯錯(cuò)的孩子)。

例如：David ticked me off for being late. 大衛(wèi)責(zé)備我遲到。My father is very hard on me and he will tick me off for I didn't do well enough in the final examination this semester. 我的父親對(duì)我很嚴(yán)格，他要罵我了，因?yàn)槲疫@個(gè)學(xué)期期末考試不是很理想。

此外，tick off還有“激怒”的意思。例如：His affair with his ex-wife has ticked his wife off . 他和前妻有染，讓他太太發(fā)火。(備注：affair with sb/have an affair with sb 與某人有染，與某人有婚外情)The cancellation of the football match really ticked him off. 足球賽的取消真把他給氣壞了。

下面我們來看由tick off變異而來的習(xí)語：get/be ticked off。它有2個(gè)意思，一個(gè)是受到責(zé)備，受到責(zé)罵，受到斥責(zé)的意思，另一個(gè)是大發(fā)雷霆，發(fā)大火的意思。

我們來看下面的例句：I got well ticked off for my mistake. 因錯(cuò)誤我已受到嚴(yán)厲的責(zé)備。The little boy got ticked off. 這個(gè)小男孩受到責(zé)罵。What is eating you? You look so ticked off. 發(fā)生什么事情呢?你看上去怒發(fā)沖冠呀。
