Last time we learned a sentence pattern which is : If + S had done, S should have done.這個句式是表示假設(shè)一個人在過去做某事或是處于某種狀態(tài)，這個人或者是另外一個人本應(yīng)該這樣做但是而沒有這樣做。

And this morning I would like to share a new sentence pattern with you. It is : If it had not been for... , S wouldn't ( couldn't might not) have done. 這個句式是表示在過去(某人或某事)要不是如何， 某人或某事就不會(不能夠，不可能)有過去的結(jié)果。如果我們假設(shè)現(xiàn)在某人或某事要不是如何， 某人或某事就不會(不能夠，不可能)有現(xiàn)在的結(jié)果。The sentence pattern is : If S weren't for... , S wouldn't( couldn't, might not) do. What's more, we can make it a sentence in inverted order when talking of it. 那么同樣在今天的句型中，可以使用倒裝句式。The sentence structure is: Had it not been for..., S wouldn't (couldn't , might not) have done. 如何倒裝呢?還是“兩步曲”：一是把if省略，二是把had提到句首，其余語序均不變。

Mary 可說是教學(xué)上的“泰斗”，可是一向教學(xué)很差的Tin就成了政教主任了，Mary心里有些不平衡就和同事Jenny聊起了此事。Jenny告訴她如果想當(dāng)官的話，要經(jīng)常到領(lǐng)導(dǎo)家中走走坐坐，光靠自己的教學(xué)實力還是不夠的。Mary就真這樣做了近半年，果然當(dāng)上了副校長。她不由感嘆道：If it hadn't been for Jenny, I wouldn't have understood it. 要不是沒有Jenny,我是不好明白這個的。此句話言外之意就是：Just because of Jenny's advice I knew how should I behave for a promotion. 正是因為有了她的建議，我才知道提升當(dāng)官還有這門學(xué)問的。我們來看一下倒裝句：Had it not been for Jenny, I wouldn't have understood it.

Juliet是個舞蹈者，練功過于勤奮，那會兒把腰給弄著了，疼痛不已，站不直也蹲不下，由于母親的細(xì)心照料，很快就好了，沒有留下后遺癥。當(dāng)現(xiàn)在的圈內(nèi)人說她真會保養(yǎng)，沒有留下職業(yè)病時，她說：If it weren't for my mother's meticulous care, I might not have gotten right so soon. 如果沒有我母親的悉心照顧，我是不好得那么快的。此句話言外之意就是：Just because of my mother's meticulous care I got well so soon. 我們來看一下倒裝句：Had it not for my mother's meticulous care, I might not have gotten right so soon.
