1. that, who用來指人，在從句中用作主語或賓語，可互換使用；that也可用來指物，但是不能用who指物。

They are the boys who/that I got to know at school.

他們是我上學(xué)時認(rèn)識的男生。

2. 關(guān)系代詞who, that在從句中作賓語時，常可省略。

This is the pen (that) I bought the day before yesterday.

這是我前天買的那支鋼筆。

Do you know the new teacher (who/that) my father is talking to?

你認(rèn)識我父親正在與其談話的那位新老師嗎？

3. 在從句中作主語時，從句謂語與先行詞在人稱和數(shù)上保持一致。

I don't know the students who are talking aloud.

不到長城非好漢。

4. 一般說來，人們傾向于用who指人，用that指物，尤其在口語中。

Mike's father is a driver that/who can only drive a taxi.

邁克的父親是一個只會開出租車的司機(jī)。

This is the book that I'm looking for.
