6．Why Are You Mad at Me 你為什么生我的氣

A: Hi, What’s new?

嗨，最近怎么樣？

B: Nothing.

沒(méi)事。

A: What’s your problem? Why are you mad at me?

你這是怎么了？你為什么跟我生氣？

B: What did you have to go and do that for?

你為什么要那樣做呢？

A: Do what?

做什么？

B: You know what I’m talking about. Why did you go tell Mrs. Lee how much money I’m going to make? Now she’ll go and tell the whole world!

你知道我在說(shuō)什么。你為什么要到李小姐那去說(shuō)我要掙多少錢(qián)？全世界的人都會(huì)知道了！

A: Well, I’m sorry. I didn’t think it mattered.

噢，對(duì)不起。我以為這不要緊的。

B: It does matter. You know how she talks to everybody and their brother! Now the whole town will be asking me for money!

怎么會(huì)不要緊！你是知道她的，她會(huì)告訴所有的人和他們的兄弟！現(xiàn)在全城的人都要向我借錢(qián)了！

A: Well, I apologize. I guess I wasn’t thinking. I got all excited.

我向你道歉。我當(dāng)時(shí)沒(méi)想到這個(gè)。我只顧高興了。

B: Oh well, it’s done now. I guess it doesn’t matter than much, anyway. They were bound to find out eventually. Everybody in this town’s always interested in gossip.

那好吧，反正事情已經(jīng)發(fā)生了。我想這畢竟也沒(méi)什么大不了。大家最終也會(huì)知道的。這個(gè)鎮(zhèn)上所有的人都喜歡扯閑話。

A: You know, it is a lot of money for a first job…

你想，你的第一個(gè)工作就掙這么多錢(qián)也的確……

B: You think I’ll be able to buy a BMW?

你以為我能買(mǎi)一輛寶馬車(chē)嗎？

A: Well, I think you’d better wait and see how much is left after Uncle Sam gets his share!

不過(guò)，你最好還是看看等納完稅之后還有多少剩余吧！

A: Actually everybody is really impressed.

其實(shí)所有的人都很羨慕呢。

B: I guess it’s not a big deal after all.

我覺(jué)得這也沒(méi)什么大不了的。

A: Any way, I am really sorry. Next time I’ll think before I speak.

不管怎樣，我感到實(shí)在是不好意思。下次說(shuō)話一定注意。
