"I have to admit" is an expression that we use when you're going to say something that maybe you don't want to say — you don't want to tell the truth. “I have to admit”是當(dāng)你要說你可能不想說的事情——你不想說實(shí)話的時(shí)候會(huì)用到的一種表達(dá)。

In fact, there's also an expression, "to tell the truth." 事實(shí)上，還有一個(gè)“to tell the truth”的表達(dá)。

So, I have to admit means I have to say — to tell the truth. 因此，“I have to admit”是“我必須承認(rèn)——說實(shí)話”的意思。

"By this time," meaning by 10:30 — "by this time, I'm beat." “到了這時(shí)，”也就是晚上10:30——“到了這時(shí)，我疲憊不堪了。”

To be beat, "beat," means to be very tired. “To be beat”是“非常累”的意思。

Someone says, "Oh, I'm beat," they've been working all day or they've, like me, been watching television all day, and now I'm beat — I'm tired. 有人會(huì)說，“哦，我累壞了，”他們整天都在工作或者他們像我一樣，看了一天的電視，所以現(xiàn)在我疲憊不堪了——我累壞了。

Of course, I don't watch television all day, just part of the day! 當(dāng)然，我不會(huì)整天都看電視的，只是一天的部分時(shí)間而已啦!

Well, my wife is also beat. 嗯，我妻子也疲憊不堪了。

In the story I say, "I'm beat, and so is my wife," meaning my wife is also very tired. 故事中我說，“I'm beat, and so is my wife，”意思是“我妻子也累壞了”。

"She cleans up when I've finished up." “當(dāng)我洗完之后她開始洗漱。”

Once again, you see those two word verbs. 又見到了這些兩個(gè)字的動(dòng)詞。

To clean up is, in this case, to clean your face, to brush your teeth; to get yourself clean is to clean up. “To clean up”在這里是“潔面，刷牙”的意思;讓自己變干凈就是“to clean up”。
