"Oh, no, it isn't," said Jennie, pleasantly;" mamma says maybe we should forget the Lord if we had everything we wanted, and He never forgets us, you know."
“哦，不，不是的，”珍妮說，令人愉快的；“媽媽說，也許我們應該如果我們擁有了我們想要的一切忘記了耶和華，他從來不會忘記我們，你知道的。”
"Well, I must rush for school," said George, not knowing exactly what to say next;
喬治不知下面該說些什么，只好說：“好了，我得趕快跑去上學了。”
and he was soon out of Jennie's sight, but had a happy little corner in his heart, because he had tried to do a kind act.
隨后他就一溜煙兒跑出了珍妮的視線。但他內心深處感到非常愉快，因為他在努力做一件好事。
He did not know how much good he had done in making a pleasant day out of a dreary one for a little sick girl.

"Mamma," said George, that evening, after he had told her what Jennie said, "papa must give them some money, so they can go back to their home."

"No," said his mother; he can not do that, and they would not wish him to do so;

but perhaps he can help us contrive some way to assist them, so that they can live more comfortably.
但或許他能幫我們想些援助她們母女的方法，這樣她們就能生活得更舒適些。
"I am going to carry Jennie some of the grapes grandpa sent me, tomorrow," said George, turning over the leaves of his geography.
“明天我打算給珍妮拿些奶奶給我的葡萄，”喬治邊翻著他的地理書邊說。
"I will put some of my pears into your basket, and go with you," said his mother;
“我會給你的籃子里放些梨，和你一起去。”他母親說道，
but there is one thing we can always give, and sometimes it does more good than nice things to eat, or even money.
但有一樣東西我們總能給予她們，而且有時候它比好吃的或是金錢更好。
"What is that, mamma,—smiles?" asked George, looking up. "Yes," answered his mother;"
“那是什么呀，媽媽，——是微笑嗎？”喬治抬頭看著媽媽問。“是啊，”他母親回答，
and it is a good plan to throw in a kind word or two with them, when you can.
而且盡可能地在微笑時說一兩句友好的話是個好方法。
