We Don't Sell to Blondes

A blonde went to an appliance store.

“I would like to buy this TV,” she told the salesman.

“ Sorry, we don’t sell to blondes,” he replied.

She hurried home and dyed her hair, then came back and again told the salesman, “I would like to buy this TV.”

“ Sorry, we don’t sell to blondes,” he replied.

“Darn, he recognized me,” she thought. She went for a complete disguise this time, haircut and new color, new outfit, big sunglasses, then waited a few days before she again approached the salesman. “I would like to buy this TV.”

“ Sorry, we don’t sell to blondes,” he replied.

Frustrated, she exclaimed, “How do you know I’m a blonde?”

“Because,” he replied, “that’s a microwave.”

我們不賣(mài)給金發(fā)女郎

一個(gè)金發(fā)碧眼的女人走進(jìn)一個(gè)家用電器商店。

“我想買(mǎi)這臺(tái)電視，”她告訴售貨員。

“抱歉，我們不賣(mài)給金發(fā)女郎。”他回答。

女人跑回家，染了頭發(fā)，回來(lái)又對(duì)售貨員說(shuō)：“我想買(mǎi)這臺(tái)電視。”

“抱歉，我們不賣(mài)給金發(fā)女郎。”他回答。

“見(jiàn)鬼，他認(rèn)出我了。”她心想。這次她來(lái)了個(gè)全副武裝，剪了新的發(fā)型還上了色，穿了套新衣服，戴上了大大的太陽(yáng)鏡，等了幾天后，她又來(lái)找售貨員。“我想要買(mǎi)這臺(tái)電視。”

“抱歉，我們不賣(mài)給金發(fā)女郎。”他回答。

她很沮喪地喊道：“你怎么知道我是個(gè)金發(fā)女郎?”

“因?yàn)椋?rdquo;他回答，“那是個(gè)微波爐。”

【詞匯講解】

1.sell 可作及物或不及物動(dòng)詞。文中的sell to是不及物的使用方法。作及物動(dòng)詞時(shí)，后面直接加名詞表示“出售”。同時(shí)也有“出賣(mài)”的意思，例如：sell one’s country賣(mài)國(guó)

2.dye。 have sth. dyed或者 dye sth. 就是“給某物染色”
