結(jié)果狀語(yǔ)從句主要由so...that和such...that引導(dǎo)。比如：He was so young that you must excuse him./Jim made such a noise that his sister told him to be quiet.

如果"so＋形容詞或副詞＋that..."引導(dǎo)肯定的結(jié)果狀語(yǔ)從句，那么這一結(jié)構(gòu)的意思是"如此......以至于......"。如：The sunshine is so beautiful that I'd like to go swimming in the sea.如果"so＋形容詞或副詞＋that..."引導(dǎo)否定的結(jié)果狀語(yǔ)從句，意思是"如此......以至于不能......"。如：He was so fat that he couldn't get though the door.

在連接一個(gè)表示結(jié)果的狀語(yǔ)從句時(shí)，such...that作"如此......以至于"解，與so...that意思相同，但用法不同。比如：so...that這一結(jié)構(gòu)中，so后邊可加形容詞或副詞，而such后邊要用名詞（這個(gè)名詞前面可以帶形容詞，也可以不帶）：He shut the window with such force that the glass broke.

雖然such后面需要跟名詞，但如果such后邊的名詞前有many、much、few、little等詞修飾，這時(shí)候就不能用such，而是改用so了。例如：He had so many falls that he was black and blue all over.
