A:Let's visit the West Lake first, OK?
B:No problem.
A:Where are we now?
B:Here is Viewing Fish at Rower Harbor.
A:Could we take a boat trip on the West Lake?
B:Of course. We'll see Three Pools Mirroring the Moon soon. There are three small stone pagodas rising from the lake. On the night of the moon Festival people place candles inside the pagodas. The reflections of the light imitate the real moon.
A:Wonderful! Are there any other resorts in Hangzhou?
B:Yes, it include Lingyin Temple, China Silk Museum and China Tea museum and so on.
A:When shall we go there?
B:How about going there now?
A:Wait for a moment please. I'll take some photos first.
A:Do you know Dunhuang?
B:Yes, it's in Gansu Province.
A:Is there anything interesting in Dunhuang?
B:The most famous spot of interest is Mogao Grottoes.
A:I think I knew it.
B:Mogao Grottoes are really a world-famous art treasury.
A:What are the main art works?
B:There are many murals and sculptures.
A:It must be beautiful, I want to take some pictures there.
B:In order to protect the cultural relics, tourists are not allowed to take any cameras into the Grottoes.
A:What a pity!
A:真遺憾!
A:The Ming Tombs are just ahead of us.
B:Can't we just stop a minute and take a look at these stone beasts and statues?
A:Certainly. They're supposed to be sentries standing guard along the entrance of the tombs.
B:There seem to be four of each kind.
A:That's right.
B:Whose tomb are we going to see?
A:We are going to see Ding Ling, the tomb of the thirteenth Ming emperor, Zhu Yijun.
B:When was this tomb excavated?
A:Work started in May 1956 and was completed the following year.
B:Is this tomb the largest of all?
A:It's difficult to say. But judging from the comparatively short time it took to complete, it must be one of the smaller ones.
B:Have you excavated all the tombs in this area?
A:No, I'm afraid not. It's a very hard job.
A:對了。
A:很難說。
A:This is North Sea Park.
B:North Sea Park?
A:Yes. "Bei" in Mandarin means north, and "hai" means sea. But of course this is just a lake.
B:And a very beautiful lake.
A:Well, yes. In fact this is part of a big lake. See the bridge over there?
B:Yes. With heavy traffic on it?
A:That's right. On the other side of the bridge are the Central Sea and the South Sea. That's the site of our Central People's Government.
B:I see. That's where Mr. Mao Zedong lived. Is that right?
A:You're right. Premier Zhou Enlai lived there, too.
B:I see. They are both very great men.
A:Yes.
B:The pagoda looks very beautiful.
A:It's a Buddhist pagoda, and it's over three hundred years old.
B:Is that so? Can we go there and have a closer look?
A:Yes, of course, if you like.
B:I'd love to.
A:Then this way, please.
B:Thank you.
A:嗯,是的。
A:是的。
A:是的。
A:Now, we are standing on the grounds of the Imperial Palace.
B:Oh! It is gorgeous and elaborate, indeed.
A:This is the world-famous Forbidden City where once emperors, empresses and their families lived.
B:Yes, it looks very lovely and picturesque.
A:Let's go ahead.
B:What exquisite carvings! Miss Chen, what's that white terrace?
A:That's the marble terrace on which the three main halls of the front part of the palace were built.
B:I'm eager to see what they look like.
A:OK. Let's go up the stairs.
B:Now, I'm beginning to get a better idea of the size of the place, as I'm on a higher place.
A:Mr. Brown, this is the Tai He Dian. It was formerly used on such occasions as a new emperor's accession, the emperor's birthday and the announcement of important edicts.
B:The throne is mounted on a stage-like platform.
A:Yes, the bronze-animals around the platform are all hollow.
B:I can well imagine the solemn and ethereal atmosphere of the scene when the magnificent hall was rendered misty and fragrant by the smoke of sandalwood rising from these incensories with the emperor in full attire on the throne and officials standing on both sides in reverence and deference.
A:Of course, go ahead.
B:Shall we proceed to the next hall?
A:OK. Let's go there. This is the Zhong He Dian.
B:Oh, how splendid! What was it built for?
A:It was here that the feudal emperors handled their daily affairs.
B:Yes, a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere permeates the place.
A:And the last of the three is the Bao He Dian. It was built in the Ming Dynasty. Formerly banquets and royal examinations were held here.
B:Today, I appreciate very much your exquisite historical culture. Thanks for your accompanying me.
A:It's my pleasure.
A:好的。
A:不客氣。
