448　look，gaze，glance，glare，peek和stare

① look意為“看，瞧”，一般用詞。

Look both ways before you cross the street. 穿越馬路前要先看看馬路兩邊。

She looked out of the window and saw the mailman. 她朝窗外望去，看到郵遞員來(lái)了。

She looked him in the face. 她直視他的臉。

② gaze指由于好奇、羨慕或著迷而長(zhǎng)時(shí)間地看或凝視。

Ralph gazed out of the train window during the trip to Chicago. 拉爾夫在去芝加哥的旅途中，兩眼凝視著車窗外面。

③ glance指由于對(duì)所看對(duì)象已有了解或由于匆忙而掃視。

I only glanced at your essay，but it seems to be good. 我只是粗略地看了一下你的文章，似乎還是不錯(cuò)的。

④ glare指用力地或有威脅性地看，強(qiáng)調(diào)敵意和驚恐。

He was glaring at his opponent. 他怒視著自己的對(duì)手。

⑤ peek指很快地瞥視，偷看，窺視。

They caught him peeking through the key hole at what was going on in the room. 他們捉住他時(shí)，他正通過(guò)鎖孔往房間里窺視。
