63　argue和debate

① argue為普通用語(yǔ)，常指為堅(jiān)持己見(jiàn)，進(jìn)行推理，或弄清一個(gè)問(wèn)題，提出論證說(shuō)理，進(jìn)行熱烈爭(zhēng)論，以說(shuō)服他人。

Let's not argue about this. 我們別為這件事?tīng)?zhēng)論了。

I argued with her for a long time，but she refused to listen to reason. 我和她辯論了好長(zhǎng)時(shí)間，但她拒不服理。

①argue 構(gòu)成的常用搭配：

argue about/over a matter 為某事?tīng)?zhēng)論

argue on a subject 就一個(gè)專(zhuān)題進(jìn)行辯論

②argue 可接 that 從句，但不可接不定式或when，what，whether 引導(dǎo)的從句。

He argued that she should not go. 他爭(zhēng)辯說(shuō)，她不應(yīng)該去。

② debate正式用語(yǔ)，強(qiáng)調(diào)雙方陳述理由，進(jìn)行全面的、徹底的辯論，目的是通過(guò)爭(zhēng)論，以求得到正確的認(rèn)識(shí)或達(dá)成共識(shí)。

They are debating a question now. 他們正在辯論一個(gè)問(wèn)題。

The committee debated whether an expressway should be built or not. 委員會(huì)就是否應(yīng)修建一條高速公路進(jìn)行了辯論。

The subject was hotly debated. 這個(gè)題目曾經(jīng)過(guò)熱烈的辯論。
