16　account，account for和on account of

① account作名詞用時(shí)，通常表示四種含義。
（1）表示“思考，考慮”，為不可數(shù)名詞，相當(dāng)于thought，consideration。
We should take into account the bad weather. 我們必須考慮到壞天氣。=We should take the bad weather into account.
（2）表示“利益，利潤”，為不可數(shù)名詞，相當(dāng)于profit，advantage。
He found his account in doing the work. 他從做那項(xiàng)工作中受益。
She put her knowledge to good account. 她充分利用自己的知識。
（3）表示“賬，賬目，賬戶”，為可數(shù)名詞。
Her job is keeping accounts. 她的工作是記賬。
He opened an account with the bank. 他在那家銀行開了一個(gè)賬戶。
（4）表示“敘述，報(bào)道（事件、人物）”，為可數(shù)名詞。
She gave us an account of her life there. 她給我們講述了她在那里的生活。
Please give us a full account of what happened last night. 請?jiān)敿?xì)向我們說明昨晚發(fā)生的事情。
② account for為短語動(dòng)詞，意為“說明（原因），解釋（理由）”，相當(dāng)于explain，give the reason for。
He can't account for his absence. 他不能說明缺席的原因。

③ on account of意為“因?yàn)?，由?rdquo;，通常作狀語，不作表語，相當(dāng)于owing to，because of。
